What is Power Automate?
Power Automate, formerly called Flow, is cloud-based software that allows employees to create and automate workflows and tasks across multiple applications and services without help from developers.
Automated workflows are called flows. To create a flow, the user specifies what action should take place when a specific event occurs.
Key features of Power Automate
Power Automate does not just integrate with other Microsoft products. It can be used with a wide variety of apps and services -- what Microsoft calls connectors -- including Salesforce, SQL Server, Twitter, Box, DocuSign, Slack, Skype and Google Drive.
Users can take advantage of an extensive library of prebuilt flows, also known as templates. Example templates include the ability to do the following:
- Save email attachments to OneDrive.
- Notify people by email when a message is sent on Teams.
- Notify people when a file has been uploaded to OneDrive or SharePoint.
- Get a push notification when you receive an email from your boss.
- Trigger an event when a Microsoft Form has been completed.
- Have automated emails sent on a particular date each month or year.
If none of the templates fit the process that needs to be automated, users can also make their own flows. Power Automate is designed so that nontechnical staff can automate workflows without the help of a developer.
What is Power Bi?
Power BI stands for Power Business Intelligence.
While the platform is commonly used by business analysts, it is also designed to be easily accessible for those without any specialized data knowledge.
Power BI's dashboard is capable of reporting and visualizing data in a wide range of different styles, including graphs, maps, charts, scatter plots, and more. Power BI's "AI Insights" functionality, meanwhile, uses AI to find insights within data sets for users.
Power BI itself is composed of several interrelated applications including but not limited to:
- Power BI Desktop: Create interactive reports with visual analytics.
- Power BI Pro: Collaborate on interactive reports throughout your organization.
- Power BI Mobile: Access business intelligence data from any device.
While some of these applications are free to use, paid subscriptions to the pro and premium versions provide greater analytics
capabilities.
